What is Palm Beach Pagan

Palm Beach Pagan is a newsletter but out by Dragon Palm Circle. Its main objective is to give the Pagans of South Florida a place to sound off. The print edition is given out free at local shops. We are hoping that by adding an on-line edition we can reach more people and get more feedback. This first issue will contains things from our earlier print editions and a few new items. If you would like to write something for PBP just e-mail it to me at dragonpalm . It may appear in both print and on line editions or just one.

By Moonlit Met by Wyndsong

By Moonlit met

In shadowed glen

And misty maze of meadow

We gather gladly

Fawning madly

With our Wiccan fellows

Joining Hands

And laughing gaily

Within the circle cast

We sing their praises

In amazement

Of our future's past

Our Lord and Lady

The keeper to

The secrets of the craft

Guide us wisely

Never blindly

On our chosen path

Come all ye

And sing with us

Dance and be merry!

If you have an

Open mind heart

You'll be asked to tarry.

DIONYSOS

South Florida's First Pagan Rock Band

Review by Dreamweaver

The first time we saw DIONYSOS was at a Lammas celebration at Markham Park in Hollywood, Florida. The band is great and different. They play our kind of music! To hear them play you want to start casting circle!!

All I can say is you need to hear this Great band play.

The following information I got from their commemorative song lyric booklet.

Dionysos consists of Bel Geode on rhythm and bass guitars, and lead male vocals; Jondalar on percussion, drums, rhythm and vocals; Swyn Carbh on ethnic percussion, drums and vocals; Ferren on didgerido, flutes, harmonica and Vocals; Paul on lead and rhythm guitar; and Willow on lead female vocals....

Raining

By Lady Sky

Dragon Palm Circle

Patterns on my window pane

Puddles on the ground

Umbrellas in the corner

And no one around.

Clean and peaceful

Persistently poring

Quiet and gray

Violent and boring.

Animals undercover

People complaining

They may get wet

But it keeps on raining.

Nowhere to go

Nothing to do

Rain is not spoiling plans

For me and for you.

We need the water

The weathermen say

But when it rains

We wish it away.

I like to listen

To the rain at night

If it is okay with you

Just turn off the light.

Come lay here beside me

And do not complain

Hold me and love me

And listen to the rain.

Feedback Question

The Three Fold Law.

We want to hear from YOU.... and we will be giving opinion type questions every issue. And we will print responses and results of the responses.

This issues question:

How do you define the Three Fold Law.

Now you can tell us if you believe in it or if its a Pagan boogieman. Is it Karma or something else. Is it caused by the Goddess and God. How soon before you can see the results.

Now don't forget it returns both GOOD and BAD to you.

I think this should be interesting. But remember unless you send in something, their will be no article. Also sign what you send with how you want it to be signed in print.

Sent to our E-mail: tncoven@bellsouth.net 6-7903.

Also send in suggestions for other Feedback Questions.

Moonlit Muse

By Wyndsong

Dragon Palm Circle

The Goddess’ light,

The iridescence of what is.

The power-filled trickle

that spirals within.

My Lady,

She of the Lunar Kat.

Keeper of secrets,

Guardian of the path

within the trees,

Mother of all

that be.

Come be one

with Your daughter.

Smile with Your grace,

let Your love fill her.

Bless her thoughts

and guild her pen,

that all who hear her words,

shall know Your presence again.

To Be, or Not To Be

Pro's and Cons of working in a Coven

Hawk

Wiccan Elder of the Nordic Tradition

Well, I have thought about this awhile.

Cons:

By working alone, you never have to worry about, a coven member working against you. It seems that sometimes Coven members will say that they are with you but, really they are Not, and when you try to do Magick they work to stop you. For what ever the reason, be it that they are jealous or that they truly think you are wrong.

You are never told what do when you work alone. As it seems that many Coven have too many leaders and Not enough coveners. And you think your voice or words will go to the wind.

There is yet a better reason for working alone, and that is they just don't CARE. I mean that they "show up when they want to" and when they do it's just "A Party" fun and games. They don't take it seriously, they are off talking to each other, about things that have nothing to do with Wicca. They are almost never "On Time" or have anything that they need. When they do show up "they bring empty stomachs, empty pockets, not even a bottle of wine.

Pros:

What a Place to learn, "WOW". The people in a Coven are your Family, and they care "and show it." They do this by caring about you, physically, mentally and spiritually (Note. * This is why sometimes they are talking about things other than Wicca.)

There is so much to learn, and only, in the loving hands of Family will you get what you NEED

If the things in the CON section are what you have been getting, the Problem is YOU.

In a Real coven we talk to each other. If I don't agree with you on a spell or a working, I say so. I have that right, same as you, to abstain from the working. I don't say I'll be there and not show up.

Many is the time I have come to circle empty handed and was never turned away, we all have times of need. I would that the whole coven was leaders being active and taking parts in all things. This was never a "One Man Show", [or woman] it is by working together that the Greater Works are done.

If what you want is to Puff yourself Up and be some Great leader, Wicca is not for you. Wicca is about Nature, not about power. Yes, there are many Powerful witches in covens. But, not "one all powerful" and a bunch of followers. "A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link." If, and I say if, you are in a group that will not allow you to ask questions., or makes you follow Blindly, "Get Out of there" and find a Real group.

The groups that I am inline with Sing, dance, talk and Yes, PLAY. We listen to each other with open hearts and minds.

The keyword is RESPECT.

Are You Wiccan???

If you are, then you should be able to do or answer all of these questions.

  1. Can you cast Circle?
  2. What is the Wiccan Rede?
  3. Who is Gerald Gardner?
  4. How many cards in a Tarot deck?
  5. What were the Burning Times?
  6. What is Magick?
  7. Can you cast a spell?
  8. Do you have a Book of Shadows
  9. What is Theban?
  10. What is a Rune?
  11. What is the three fold law?
  12. Who is Raymond Buckland?
  13. What is an Athame?

Hope you didn't expect the answers. We gave this list to some of our Wicca 101 students and they knew them all and they are not finished with their year and a day.

If you don't know the answers you need to talk to someone and find the answers. You do need to study more. And you should seek out a teacher if you are truly interested in this very beautiful religion.

In Closing

If you like Palm Beach Pagan or if you didn't, drop us a line at tncoven@bellsouth.net and let us know what you think. We can use all kinds of things for the next issue. Send them via e-mail.
